Jonathan Levitt  is the host of the For The Long Run podcast, which is all about running. An ultramarathoner himself, Jonathan connects with runners of all levels and industry experts about running long, strong and staying motivated. Hollis M. Tuttle On Fitness, Nutrition and Following Your Passion

Fitness + Nutrition Coach, Hollis M. Tuttle is one of NYC’s most popular fitness coaches and is a rising star when it comes to nutrition. She teaches at CityRow, on the CityRow GO app, and at Orangetheory, now offering digital classes.

Born and raised in Northern California, fitness and athletics are in her DNA. Matt Fitzgerald On Running, Writing, & Mental Strength

Matt Fitzgerald is a world renowned endurance sports writer. He has authored some of the best books on running, triathlon, sports nutrition and mindset. Many of which are my favorites and go-to’s. His many books include the bestselling Racing Weight, Iron Wars, 80/20 Running, 80/20 Triathlon, How Bad Do You Want It and his newest book, Running the Dream. Matt is also a renowned running and triathlon coach, is a sports nutritionist, and a lifelong athlete.

On today’s episode I sync up with Matt about his recent book, Running The Dream, which is about his experience living at altitude for 13 weeks and training with the Hoka Northern Arizona Elite Team  and Coach Ben Rosario. He completely immersed himself in the “pro-life,” from nutrition, and training to recovery and sleep. Kevin Rutherford, CEO of Nuun, On Movement, Community & Hydration You Can Feel

Last week was an action packed, politically charged week around the globe, with good reason, Black Lives Matter. We all need to stand up, take action, and put an end to racism, inequality and injustice in the world.  I did not post my weekly episodes out of respect, to make space for the important conversations and voices that needed to be heard.  I am happy to be back with you this week, and while I am not moving on, I am moving forward with great guests for you to discover this summer.

FueledByMOTM: How I Train For Triathlon + 3 Easy Strategies To Get Your Workouts Done

Getting to the gym, a spin class or outdoors for your long run can be a challenge with a busy work, family and social schedule. As a triathlete, I know this well.  FueledByMOTM is a new Marni on The Move weekly segment offering tips, advice, and answers to listener questions.  On this premiere episode, I share my strategies for fitting my workouts into my busy schedule, stay motivated during training, and set goals to achieve success.  Many of you have been asking me how I find the time to train for triathlon and how I stay inspired in my training and workout routine. This isn’t a new question, as my friends and family have asked me for decades!  While this segment is focused on triathlon, these tips and advice apply to any sports or fitness routine. Before I trained for triathlon, I was a runner, yoga practitioner, and fitness class junkie. The only way I ever got to the gym or studio is by approaching training the same way I approach running my business. Whether I am spearheading initiatives within my own company, The Salup Group, building a brand strategy, communications and content campaign for a client, or producing events and FIT+LOVE’s annual fitness festival, I set achievable goals, build a team, map out a plan of action, build it into my schedule and get it done.

Alexandra Sharpe-Keene has an eye for discovering and curating great beauty and wellness products, treatments and therapists.  She is also an avid skier, snowboarder and runner, which is why she is at her dream job as Spa Director of The Peaks Resort + Spa in Telluride, Colorado!  Alexandra has been doing what she loves since the day she graduated from college!

As a child, Alexandra always dreamed of being a journalist. When she graduated from college, she immediately got a job working at one of the top newspapers in the UK, The Yorkshire Post,  but when her best friend called and invited her to come live and work at the Italian Ski Resort of Courmayeur, she didn’t think twice.  She followed her passion and went with the flow.  Alexandra packed up for her adventure and never looked back! Throughout her career, Alexandra has worked at some of the most prestigious resorts and spas including Topnotch Resort and Spa in Vermont, The Calistoga Ranch—an Auberge Spa—in California, and now at The Peaks Resort & Spa in Telluride.

Daphnie Yang, Creator of HIIT IT! On Having A Positive Mindset, Running, and Fitness

Empowered with a BFA in Dance from NYU in 2007, multiple International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) Certifications in Personal Training, Pre and Post Natal Training, Marathon Coaching and Nutrition Counseling, Daphnie has motivated hundreds of people to reduce body fat, sculpt lean muscle mass, and run marathons, but most importantly, she has helped countless people achieve balance and wellness in their day to day lives. Arshad Bahl, CEO + Founder Amrita: On Turning Tragedy Into Triumph

Arshad Bahl is the Founder + CEO of Amrita Foods,  the protein and energy bars that fuel my training and everyday life! His path to entrepreneurship was organic, literally and figuratively, and incredibly inspiring. He spent the first part of his career working in  corporate consulting and marketing, but when his son was diagnosed with autism and severe gastrointestinal issues at the age of two, his life and career were changed forvever. Arshad and his wife did a ton of research and immediately started their son on an aggressive gluten-free and dairy-free nutrition program. The nutritional changes helped heal his gastrointestinal issues, which allowed for better absorption of nutrition, which in turn made it easier for him to focus on other necessary therapies. Within three years, their son was in a mainstream classroom and was doing well both academically and socially.

After his son’s nutritional changes and gastrointestinal recovery, Arshad became convinced that plant-based nutrition was the right approach for managing inflammation. The significance of reducing one’s allergen load (such as consumption of gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, oils, preservatives, and chemical-containing non-organic foods) to help the body recover from daily stresses became apparent. Arshad became dedicated to developing snacks free of these damaging ingredients. In 2012, Amrita was officially launched.  What began as a few pop-ups starting at farmers markets got picked up by Whole Foods and today is in over 1000 doors nationwide.

Keeth Smart, Olympic Silver Medalist in Fencing: On the Power of Athleticism, Career Strategy, and Brooklyn

At the young age of 11, Keeth Smart was fencing for fun.  He also played tennis and many team sports like most children his age. However, unlike everyone else, Keeth had some serious fencing skills and very forward thinking parents that signed him up for lessons at the Peter Westbrook Foundation. By the time he knew it, he was on track for a college scholarship. He got that scholarship and later became the 1st U.S. Fencer to Rank #1 in the world, a 3x Olympian, and Olympic Silver Medalist in 2008 at age 30.  He went on to get his MBA at Columbia Business School, co-founded a Fitness Technology Company, Phsyiclo, and is now Regional General Manager at Chelsea Piers Fitness. Keeth and Marni talk about where his athletic journey began, how being athletic and involved in sports set him up for success, his career and next steps at Chelsea Piers Fitness, and the workouts that fuel him for success. It truly was a magical evening. We were on the deck outside, overlooking the Hudson. The event began with the panel, where listeners got to experience first-hand,, what it was like to be part of the podcast with digital wireless headsets almost as if they were in the room where it happens, thanks to Murray Hidary of MindTravel. Following the panel, Chelsea Piers Fitness talented and popular yoga teacher, Danielle Prager led a vinyasa style yoga class to the music of MindTravel and Murray continued to play trugh savasana into the night.

While all of this sounds wonderful and amazing, the episode audio is a little rough at first. Like a true entrepreneur, I had a vision and took a big risk, my first time recording a live event at this venue and really set the barre high. We were outside, recording digitally, no wires, with some technical interference and signals and occasional helicopters in the background.  My audio engineers are terrific. But it’s not the same as being in the studio so I wanted to prepare you for a few glitches here and there. However, it’s a really inspiring and empowering conversation and can maybe plant some seeds for you as we move into the New Year!
