Andrea Guerra is a professional distance runner, U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials Finisher, and member of Angel City Elite, a women’s distance running team based out of Los Angeles, on a mission to increase BIPOC representation in the running community. Set into motion after the 2020 Marathon Olympic Trials as a collaborative effort of female elite runners looking to make a statement of representation in the running community while chasing both their athletic and personal potentials, Angel City Elite was officially founded in 2021 in affiliation with Brooks Running.

During our conversation, Andrea and I sync up about her incredible experience at the Atlanta 2020 Olympic Trials. She dials me into her nutrition and training routines for marathon running. Andrea also chats about her favorite Brooks shoes, and what she’s enjoying about working with the other Angel City Elite women. She talks about working her way up from competing on the track to becoming a professional distance athlete. In addition to her status as an inspiring female athlete, Andrea is a special education instructional aide. She talks to me about her personal experience with ADHD, and how she uses her own knowledge to help and motivate the children she teaches. We also talk about how running empowers her life—both on and off the course.
