345: Betsy Hughes, Co-Founder, Track Shack, Talks Running, Retail, The U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials Planning and Walt Disney World Marathon

Today on the podcast I sync up with Betsy Hughes, Co-Owner of Track Shack, the Orlando based running retailer and running event company responsible for spearheading the bid and bringing the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials to Orlando!  Betsy has been in the running retail and event business and an avid runner for over four decades. Track Shack running events include the iconic Walt Disney World Marathon and runDisney events, Orlando Half Marathon, and longest running women’s events, Lady Track Shack 5K.

Betsy takes me back to where it all began-her passion for running, her foray into retail and running event production, course measuring, and how she and her husband, Jon, grew this family owned retail shop into a blossoming running brand. Betsy shares how her son Chris came on board in the retail business after college and how they thrived during the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. We chat about how running culture and shoes have evolved over the decades, some of her go-to’s, what events she’s running these days and the many Track Shack Training Programs and Track Shack Foundation.
